DIA DE LOS MUERTOS:
COMMUNITY OFRENDA

since 2021

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is about remembering, honouring and celebrating - we’re forever connected. We gather as a community once a year on November 2nd, to build an ofrenda (altar), remembering friends and family who have passed on.

While this event is deeply meaningful, Dia de los Muertos is a vibrant celebration full of life affirming joy. You can expect good music, conversation around the fire, connection and delicious food.

Dia de los Muertos: Community Ofrenda, will be held for the fourth year on November 2, 2024.

It is our honour to partner with Bullock Lake Farm to host and hold this space for our community since we began hosting our community in 2021. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Your hosts,
Chef Deb & Miranda

Make a donation

Dia de los Muertos is a volunteer project funded by community donations and supported by local businesses.

Community donations help cover the hard costs of hosting the evening: candles, flowers, firewood, decorations, music, activities & more. It also helps us provide honorariums to our Mexican hosts who’s contributions and labour make Dia de los Muertos possible. Your donations help keep it accessible to everyone as an important cultural event in our community.

Donations are never required but always appreciated. We’re so thankful for your support.

A TRADITIONAL MEAL

Chef Deb and the team from Dos Amores will prepare a special dinner followed by free pan de muerto and hot chocolate.

We highly recommend pre-ordering, but a limited number of items will be made available for sale at the event if possible.

There are various price points in an effort to make dinner accessible to everyone ($7.50-25). A number of mugs of delicious tortilla soup have been made available for folks who would appreciate a no-cost dinner option. Please e-mail hola@dosamorestortilleria.com after you have RSVP’d to inquire.
